About Emily Geppert, PA-C
Emily Geppert, PA-C, is an Advanced Practice Provider at Monument Health Neurosurgery in Rapid City. Born and raised in Howard, SD, Emily’s health care journey began while earning her bachelor's degree at Kansas State University. During that time, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in nursing homes, on a medical-surgical floor and in an orthopedic clinic — experiences that helped solidify her passion for patient care.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences in 2015, Emily moved to Rapid City and worked as a patient care technician with the Electrophysiology team before attending Physician Assistant (PA) school in Kearney, NE. During PA school, Emily completed several clinical rotations at Monument Health across a variety of specialties, which gave her an early appreciation for both the organization and the patient population we serve. She graduated with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Emily joined Monument Health as a nocturnist PA with the Hospitalist team. After spending more than three years caring for hospitalized patients overnight, she decided to pursue her passion for surgical medicine with Neurosurgery.
What Emily appreciates most is the collaborative nature of her team. Everyone is willing to teach, learn and support one another. That teamwork is essential to delivering exceptional patient care and has been one of the most rewarding aspects of Emily’s career.
“We care for one of the most unique patient populations in the country, serving incredible people who often face complex medical challenges every day, which continually pushes us to grow as providers,” she said.
Most importantly, Emily attributes much of her success to her family. Emily’s husband has supported and encouraged her through every stage of her career. Her parents, siblings and extended family have always been there to cheer her on and help her navigate challenges along the way. And Emily’s children inspire her every day — they remind her to find joy in the little things and to see the good in every person she meets.
