About James Holloway, M.D.
Dr. Holloway grew up in Glen Ellyn, Ill., a suburb of Chicago. He attended Indiana University for his undergraduate (a double major in biological science and economics), master’s (economics) and medical degrees, as well as for his internal medicine residency. Dr. Holloway then moved to Baltimore, Md. to join the Johns Hopkins University Medical School and School of Public Health for a fellowship in internal medicine and additional training in epidemiology and statistics. After his training, he began a career in academic medicine. He served as a faculty member at the University of Michigan and Northwestern University. In 1992, Dr. Holloway relocated to Deadwood, SD, where he has practiced internal medicine since. He is married to Susan Holloway, who is well-known for her volunteer work in the community. His family includes a son, daughter and four grandchildren. He enjoys reading and playing the trumpet.
Dr. Holloway’s practice includes many patients with multiple and complex medical problems. Although he treats adult patients of all ages, the majority of his primary care patients are elderly. He also provides consultative services to other physicians in the community. He has clinical interests in disorders of the heart, lungs, stomach, colon and arthritis.
