About Christine Duerksen, FNP-C, ENP-C
Christine A. Duerksen, MSN, FNP-C, ENP-C is board-certified in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. She is certified in BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS and SANE.
Christine started her career as a certified nursing assistant at the age of 16 in her local nursing home. In 2005, she graduated with honors with her registered nursing degree from the University of South Dakota. She began her RN career at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls on the renal/dialysis unit. Two years later, she joined the Critical Care float pool and worked primarily in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department but was trained and competent in almost every unit of the hospital. Christine was a charge nurse in the Sanford Transfer Center where she was in charge of flight dispatch, video telemedicine, and bed placement while completing her advanced degree. While at Sanford Health, Christine received numerous awards including the Florence Nightingale Award and two Daisy Awards.
Christine furthered her education and completed her Master of Science in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner from Mount Marty University in 2019. Christine then began her career as a nurse practitioner at a very active critical access hospital/emergency department/primary care clinic in rural South Dakota. After three years, she decided to return to her passion, emergency medicine, in the Monument Health Lead-Deadwood Emergency Department in the Fall of 2022. She also acts as the Director of Provider Professional Practice for Monument Health.
Currently, Christine is attending MMU in the Doctor of Nursing Practice - Leadership & Education program. Christine has a passion for teaching and is also a part-time professor for MMU’s Family Nurse Practitioner program.
When she is not caring for others, Christine enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She also enjoys exercising, weight-lifting, biking, hunting, fishing, baking, playing board games and canvas painting.
